Mauli Shah

I, Meha Shah, am very proud to share that my mom Mauli Shah climbed Mt.Rainier this year. For this, my mom was very committed and have gone through tough training, time away from family and social events for last 5 months on top of managing work, family and home chores.

This is huge deal for my mom who never prefers to go on hike or come to my soccer game as she may get sick due to cold and windy weather. She wanted to overcome this.

On the different topic, My mom, who I have seen always ready to help people and go extra mile if needed. She feels that we are blessed with what we need and we should return back to society. She wants to sow those seeds in our generation. She strongly agrees that whatever or wherever she is in life today is because of her education and strong foundation values taught by her family. Our generation is so much privileged, we do not even know how life could be without water, or basic health, or basic education.

Last year she learned about Asha‘s fund raising program, Climb Rainier, and she felt that this fits perfectly to her dream of seeing mountain very closely, to overcome physical limitations of being outdoor, to be a role model for us that if you are committed and ready to work hard you can achieve any goal, and being first hand example for us to learn how you can give back to society( for Asha’s GRAVIS project ).

I asked my mom and this is how she feels, “It has been an excited, warm, filled with joy and (sometimes) anxious 5 months journey clocking around endless hours of practice time. I would have never imagined myself doing this without selfless dedication and support from Asha volunteers who helped me to shoot for the top and achieve unthinkable. I am honored to be a part of Asha’s journey to provide basic health and education to kids who would not get it otherwise. I have faith in the idea that providing education is the best way to uplift communities from poverty and attain world peace.”

My sister Sharda and I supported her by making sure that our rooms were clean, doing our homework on time ( …and you know mom’s long list of expectations !!! ) when she was out weekend long very hard technical training for last 5 months . Don’t tell my mom, we also loved this liberty to watch movies and have fun time with dad.
