I would be climbing Mount Rainier (14,441 feet) in July 2018 with the help of ‘Asha’ which is a non-profit dedicated to bringing socio-economic change in India primarily through education. As a kid, I grew up in the city of Pune, India which is surrounded by the mountain ranges of Sahyadri. Being a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its historic significance and a hot-spot of bio-diversity, the ancient forts in the Sahyadri ranges were a go-to destination of the quarterly school trips. Now, as an adult, I am lucky to be working in the Pacific Northwest that allows me to pursue my childhood passion, offering exciting mountain climbing opportunities. It is truly a blessing for me to get a chance to attempt to summit Mount Rainier which is the tallest mountain in the state of Washington. As a part of this climb, I have pledged to raise $1500 for donating to Asha (100% of the money raised will be donated to Asha and will not cover my gear or climbing guide expenses).
About Asha
Asha has succeeded in touching the lives of thousands of children through projects that deal with educational issues from pre-primary schooling to professional education in locations from urban slums to isolated rural areas. There is still a lot to be achieved since there are millions of children in India who do not have access to basic education. You can learn more about Asha’s work here.
