Welcome to Junior Asha team – Seattle Chapter
Junior Asha (JA) is the youth wing of Asha for Education – Seattle Chapter, and functions under its umbrella. Asha is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to bringing about socio-economic change in India primarily through education. We pride ourselves on being an action group that disburses 100% of donations to our partner groups in India.
JA has been in existence since 2009. JA kids decided to adopt one of Asha’s projects, Adruta Childrens Home , as a project of choice to support with their fundraising efforts. 100% of funds raised are sent to Adruta Childrens Home! If you/your child plan to be in Orissa and can visit the facility, then that would be awesome!!
Given an appropriate opportunity, JA volunteers also support the local community by volunteering at non-Asha related events. In return, we get to talk about Asha’s cause, spread awareness, and help support our community.
With help from parents of JA volunteers, we make sure of adult presence/support at all events these kids participate in. Co-facilitators of JA always try their level best to be present on all occasions.
Our roster for the school year 2024-2025 is full. To be considered for 2025-2026 school year , please email us at seattle.jrasha@ashanet.org.
For any queries, please reach out to seattle.jrasha@ashanet.org.

- Raise awareness and encourage kids with the gift of giving to the less fortunate.
- Above all, have fun!
- Kids 12 – 18 years old are welcome to join the group, with parent permission
- New volunteers will be accepted at the beginning of each school year.
- Each volunteer needs to take up a personal project to help raise a minimum of $50 per school year to help support the kids in Adruta Children’s home.
- You do not get volunteer hours for your personal project but if you help another volunteer, you can most definitely claim those hours towards your goal.

- It is mandatory to attend these 3 meetings . NO EXCEPTIONS.
- You need to sign in and sign out at each meeting to get credit.
- You may not be more than 15 minutes late or leave more than 15 minutes early from a meeting to avoid disruptions—essentially, you can’t miss more than 15 minutes of any meeting.
- As JA facilitators, we wait till all kids are picked up, so please be on time to pick up your children to avoid disruptions in our day.
