I moved to PNW around 7 years back and it was love at first sight! Having lived in overcrowded cities, sound of silence is what I yearned for and found it on the small hikes around the area. I started discovering many wonderful trails near i90 and was hooked on to the blog called “Hiking with my Brother”. I found hiking akin to meditating. Being as restless as I am, this is as close to finding “inner peace” as I could get :).
Why Rainier?
Rainer has always left me awestruck. Every time I see it, passing the 520 bridge, it reminds me of the beauty I am surrounded by, and how lucky I am to be in the PNW region. I don’t wish to conquer Rainier, nor do I think anyone can, I simply wish to stretch my limits. And if the mountain is kind enough to let me stand on its helm, I just want to look back at my footsteps and experience how each little step leads you to the summit. Rainier for me, will be culmination of few months of training hikes with Asha volunteers, and I really hope my little step towards raising money for Asha, is instrumental in them reaching their summit.
Why Support me or Fund me?
You truly are not financing my hike. I have paid my dues to guide services. All the money donated with be given 100% to the GRAVIS project.
My personal goal is to raise $1500 (without corporate matching) and I will personally match all contributions I get up to that amount. So every dollar you donate can potentially be 3x (including corporate matching).
Every dollar you donate goes directly to fund projects in India. Asha has a strong volunteer network that picks up the administrative costs.
What is Asha For Education ?
Asha is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to bringing about socio-economic change in India primarily through education. Asha’s mission is to ensure that every child has access to an education that is meaningful. One of the many projects which will be helped by your donations is called GRAVIS, which aims to provide water security for villagers living in desert regions of Rajasthan. At the cost of $270, a large, underground concrete water tanks – “Taankas” – can be built and hold around 20,000 liters of water. It collects filtered rain water that when full can last a family of 6 for a half year. Other goals of GRAVIS include spreading literacy among children in the region, and improving health conditions of women and children through health education and the provision of health services.
Any donation you give will make an immense difference.
Thank you for supporting Asha for this worthy and noble cause.
