I will be climbing Mount Rainier in 2017 with Team Asha. I have been involved in some form of outdoor activity in Pacific Northwest for the last fifteen years and have grown to love this region. Since we moved to Seattle in 2002, the large life-like presence of Rainier and watching its glory on beautiful clear days would always trigger a conversation with my dear wife (Nalina) that I would one day like to summit Rainier if of course Mt Rainier would permit me. The eloquent John Muir greeting at the Jackson visitor center “…the most luxurious and extravagantly beautiful of all the alpine gardens I have beheld in all my mountain-top wanderings…” sums up very well on the description of the beauty and majesty of the mountain. I have finally got a chance to summit Rainier this year with Team Asha and through my journey of learning to climb glaciated peaks, hope to teach what I learn to dear and loved ones and enjoy & feel nature as much as I do. What makes this climb even more special is that I will also raise money for Asha which is catalyzing socio-economic change in India through education.
Please help me in my effort to climb Mount Rainier. Hopefully this is the first of many more real and virtual summits to come in the future.
My goal is to raise USD 1500 through this climb. All donations big or small will go a long way in providing education to underprivileged women and children in India. All of the money that you donate will go to Asha and is also tax deductable. You can get more details about the list of projects here.
What is Asha for Education?
Asha is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to bringing about socio-economic change in India primarily through education. Asha has succeeded in touching the lives of thousands of children across the different projects that it has supported which deal with educational issues from pre-primary schooling to professional education in locations from urban slums to isolated rural areas.
However, there is still a lot to be achieved since there are millions of children in India who do not have access to basic education. You can help me with this cause right now, and Donate using the ‘Donate’ button on this webpage.

It is the most topographically prominent mountain in the contiguous United States and the Cascade Volcanic Arc, with a summit elevation of 14,411 ft (4,392 m).
