Hello all,
Hi there! We are Naveena and Vidya and we are biking 206 miles from Seattle to Portland as part of STP 2022 on July 16-17. It has been a lot of fun riding together while we build endurance, raise our fitness and enjoy the outdoors on the bike trails of the Pacific Northwest every week since March with Team Asha.
Team Asha are a bunch of wonderful committed folks volunteering their valuable time for a charity. Without their support this ride wouldn’t have been possible, very grateful to have met them and trained with the team.
Our bigger goal for the STP ride is to raise funds and awareness for the charitable organization ‘Asha for Education’. This organization began as an effort to provide basic education to underprivileged children throughout India. Asha is helping local communities combat the perils of illiteracy, poverty, and exploitation by providing them with tools and means of empowerment. Everyone has a right to education and we strongly believe in this; that’s the best gift one can give to any kid. Growing up in rural India, we have experienced how education brings transformation and changes the society for better. We have experienced this personally as well, hence this cause is very dear to us.
Our goal this year is to raise $850 for this cause. We appreciate your help in reaching this goal. No amount is small. Additionally we will match every dollar up-to $850 of total donations. We are thankful that Vidya’s employer “Microsoft” will match every dollar he donates. So your donation will have 3X impact.
Today there are many organizations to choose from to donate hard-earned dollars, so Why choose Asha for Education?
Besides their noble cause and work at the grass root levels, Asha is a “minimal overhead” organization, driven by volunteers (including the administrative expenses) ensuring that more than 95% of our donations are sent to their partner groups in India. Asha for Education has consistently secured a 100% rating on Charity Navigator, a well-established database that evaluates non-profit organizations on the basis of transparency, accountability and financial parameters.
