Schools are off and sun is out…..It’s time to be outdoors. This year I’m participating in STP ride ( Seattle to Portland) with Team Asha on July 16-17 and will be riding 204 miles in two days.
Listening STP success stories and about Team Asha from couple of friends fascinated and pulled me towards it. When I started biking 4 months back, I immediately realized that it was a great way of experiencing beautiful cycling trails in and around the Seattle region.Considering that I had never cycled for more than 10 miles at a stretch before, this race is going to challenge me mentally and physically. However, I am glad to have accepted this challenge sinceĀ other than archiving personal fitness and making new good friends this will help raising money for a good cause.
About Asha
I am riding with Team Asha to support Asha, a non-profit organization helping educate underprivileged children in India. Asha is a ‘zero overhead organization’, which is a sophisticated way of saying “We channel 100% of our donations to the grassroots”. Check out the Asha website for more information about the amazing work they are doing. All donations are tax deductible, and Asha is registered with many companies for donation-matching programs. Every dollar you donate will bring about positive change for children who need help to help themselves.
How much can I donate?
Any amount. Just the act of donation shows you care for other people not as privileged as you. I’ll be matching dollar to dollar all donations you make till I have met my goal.
For instance:
– If you wish to give $5, then together we would have raised $10 which will help a child get basic education for a month.
– If you wish to give $20, then together we would have raised $40 which will help support a primary school of about 25-30 children.
I have a modest goal of raising $500
