Hello!
I am Vidya and I am biking with my son Arjun, 206 miles from Seattle to Portland as part of STP 2019 on July 13th-14th. This is our first long distance ride, It has been amazing to ride and train with Arjun and experience beautiful trails of Pacific Northwest. Our journey of STP started when we went to see of our longtime family friends Prakash and Rusheel at the STP start line during STP 2018, Arjun got inspired by watching thousands of bikers at the start line and wanted to do STP 2019 and here we are training this year. “Biking is magic, Being able to balance on two wheels and ride long distances is amazing” were the words from Arjun during one of our training rides 😊.
Team Asha are bunch of wonderful committed folks volunteering their valuable time for a charity. Without their support this ride of ours wouldn’t have been possible, Very grateful to have met them and trained with the team. As part of doing STP we are also raising funds for a cause.
About the cause, “Asha for Education” is a program which provides education to underprivileged kids in India. Everyone has a right to education and I strongly believe in this; that’s the best gift one can give to any kid. Growing up in rural India, I have experienced how education brings transformation and changes the society for better. I have experienced this personally as well, hence this cause is very dear to me. My goal this year is to raise $750 (before company matching) for the same. I would appreciate your help in reaching this goal. Why do I support ‘Asha for Education’?
Asha for Education is a secular organization dedicated to change in India by focusing on basic education of underprivileged children in the belief that education is a critical requisite for socio-economic change. They work with a variety of project partners and community groups in many educational and development related endeavors.
