Here I am again – Biking from Seattle to Portland, hoping to raise $500 for Asha, for the cause I believe in – ”Empowering underprivileged through education”.
Today I want you to do something for me. Just for once when you think about which restaurant to try this weekend, also think about those who wait for the day they get to eat stomach-full. When you see your kid struggling to decide which toy to play with today, think about the kids that have daily wages as their top agenda. Is the difference between the quality of lives justified given the difference between our capabilities? What if we compare both physical and intellectual capabilities? Equality, even relative to the capabilities is something out of individual’s reach. But strategically helping underprivileged with tools to improve their situation is something we can do at a level comfortable to each one of us. Do something – volunteer, advocate, give time, give money. Not just once but as regularly as you are comfortable with. Do it once a year, once a month, once a week.
If you too believe in the cause, join hands with us by whatever means that suit you. In addition to the training, volunteering to train the team and fundraising efforts, as my personal contribution to the cause, I will match your donations up to a total of $500.
You can donate using the “Donate” link on this page or you can hand over cash or checks made to “Asha for Education”. If your employer matches your donation 100% like Microsoft, it will be doubled instantly. With my matching it will be tripled :).
Let’s bring in the equality one change at a time.
