My name is Hamsa Shankar. I am a senior at Tesla STEM High School and will be attending the University of Washington this fall to major in Computer science. I have been a Junior Asha Volunteer for the past three years, and I am running in the Big Backyard 5k in Redmond this June 2nd to raise funds for Asha for Education. I am particularly passionate about using my interests to help those less fortunate. I am participating in the Big Backyard 5k to give my support to the Seattle chapter of Asha for Education to help the education of young girls in India.
Junior Asha (JA) is the youth wing of Asha for Education – Seattle Chapter, and functions under its umbrella. Asha is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to bringing about socio-economic change in India primarily through education. JA has been in existence since 2009. JA kids decided to adopt one of Asha’s projects, Adruta Childrens Home, as a project of choice to support with our fund raising efforts.
I request you to please donate towards this cause and encourage my run while making a difference in the lives of children at Adruta. All your donations are Tax deductible. Please mention “Hamsa Shankar Junior Asha” while making your donation.
Thank you all for choosing to support me,
Hamsa Shankar
