I am Mugdha Kshirsagar and this year I will be riding my first ever long distance bike ride from Seattle to Portland (STP) which is 206 miles over two days on July 13-14, 2019. I am working very hard training towards my goal ride on the trails and roads of the Pacific Northwest every week since early March.
My bigger goal for the STP ride is to raise funds and awareness for the charitable organization ‘Asha for Education’. Asha for Education began as an effort to provide basic education to underprivileged children throughout India. “Asha means Hope”, an apt name for an organization that is helping local communities combat the perils of illiteracy, poverty and exploitation. Asha has touched the lives of thousands of children, and their families, providing them with tools and means of empowerment.
I come from a family where education was always a priority. We were raised with firm belief that good education is instrumental in shaping a person’s life. Therefore, when I learned about “Asha” and their mission I did not have to think twice about aligning my efforts towards their goals!!
How can you help? You can help by contributing towards my modest goal of raising $500 for the organization. Every dollar you donate will go a long way in making a huge positive impact in lives of underprivileged children.
Today there are many organizations for us to choose from to donate our hard earned dollars, so Why choose Asha for Education?
Besides their noble cause and work at the grass root levels, Asha is a “minimal overhead” organization, driven by volunteers (including the administrative expenses) ensuring that more than 95% of our donations are sent to their partner groups in India. Asha for Education has consistently secured a 100% rating on Charity Navigator, a well-established database that evaluates non-profit organizations on the basis of transparency, accountability and financial parameters
