A very frequent sight when living in the Northwest is the majestic Mount Rainier. In spite of having lived here for many years, even now I find myself filled with awe when I catch a glimpse of the mountain. Climbing Rainier had been in the back of my mind for some time, but a commitment like this takes an extra push. I found that push when I encountered a great group – Asha – supporting a wonderful cause.
Asha for Education is an all-volunteer non-profit organization with the goal of improving socio-economic conditions in India. It supports several projects via fundraising activities – the primary one supported by the Rainier Climb is GRAVIS which supplies various amenities to villages in the Thar Desert – water harvesting (taankas), self-help groups to economically empower women, schools, and health camps. 100% of donations go directly to projects as Asha is fully volunteer run. I have pledged to raise $1500 for this effort on top of my own contribution of $600.
Thank you for taking the time to visit this page and especially for supporting Asha by making a contribution, however small. Keep in mind that many employers match donations to NGOs – let me know if you need details for Microsoft for example.
Thank you,
Nabeel
Note: If donating by cheque, please make it out to ‘Asha For Education’, and write ‘2016 Asha Climb Program – for Nabeel Kaushal’ for tracking.
