Hi! This year I will be doing Seattle to Portland (STP, 206 miles, in two days on July 13 and 14th.) cycling ride with my dad! This is going to be my first time doing STP, My dad has done STP once before me so this will be his second time doing it. I have been training for STP for a few months with Asha group and it’s really fun! After we rode on Mercer Island, I was more optimistic about biking because for the first few rides it was on the same trail, there was no new scenery, but on Mercer Island we saw I-90 Bridge, beautiful flowers, and a never ending trail of trees (that’s what it felt like). I also completed my first organized ride, Flying Wheels! When we were riding, all I could think about was the Inglewood hill. We were riding and all of a sudden the steepest hill I ever saw was the hill I was dreading! After the hill was done I was proud of myself because I did the entire hill without getting down! About an hour later we had another hill, the Carnation hill after the Inglewood hill I thought the Carnation hill was nothing. At the last 15 miles, I was tired but wanted to finish the ride strong! When I crossed the finish line all I could say was how amazed I was about myself for finishing this ride without getting off the bike on any of the hills.
I am training for STP with team Asha, an organization that helps underprivileged kids by providing education and learn in, they provide the kids with food, education and a place to settle in. I feel grateful that I have everything I want and want to help others to have that too.
Please help me reach our modest goal of raising $750 with any contribution you can make. Every dollar donated makes a huge difference for so many children.
Why do we support ‘Asha for Education’?
Asha for Education is a secular organization dedicated to change in India by focusing on basic education of underprivileged children in the belief that education is a critical requisite for socio-economic change. They work with a variety of project partners and community groups in many educational and development related endeavors.
