I am Sangeeta Venkatachalam and this year I am attempting my first long distance bike ride of 206 miles from Seattle to Portland as part of STP 2019 on July 13-14. It’s been in my bucket list for sometime and I am finally on my way to getting it done. More importantly, I am happy that I am doing it for a good cause – raising funds for ‘Asha for Education’, a charitable organization that primarily focuses on the education of underprivileged children in India. I was introduced to Team Asha by a friend of mine as they provide great training for STP. I have been training with them since March, riding on different trails of the Pacific Northwest. It’s been challenging yet a very fulfilling experience.
You can help by contributing towards my modest goal of raising $500 for the organization. Every dollar you donate will go a long way in making a huge positive impact in lives of underprivileged children.
Why choose Asha for Education?
Asha for Education is a secular organization dedicated to change in India by focusing on basic education of underprivileged children in the belief that education is a critical requisite for socio-economic change. They work with a variety of project partners and community groups in many educational and development related endeavors.
Besides their noble cause and work at the grass root levels, Asha is a “minimal overhead” organization, driven by volunteers (including the administrative expenses) ensuring that more than 95% of our donations are sent to their partner groups in India. Asha for Education has consistently secured a 100% rating on Charity Navigator, a well-established database that evaluates non-profit organizations on the basis of transparency, accountability and financial parameters
