I’m part of a small but mighty volunteer crew that keeps the Asha Seattle Biking Team rolling. My favorite role is mentoring new riders — pacing with them on climbs, helping them build endurance, and cheering them on as they hit milestones they once thought were impossible.
I’ve been volunteering since 2017, but my connection to the team started even earlier — as a beginner who didn’t know if she could ride more than a few miles. Thanks to the patient volunteers, I learned, grew, and eventually transformed my lifestyle. Now I get to be that person for someone else. Biking changed my life. It gave me confidence, stamina, and a circle of friends who feel like family. Volunteering is my way of paying it forward — helping others make the lifestyle changes they’ve been dreaming about, while enjoying the laughter, conversations, and shared miles that make our team feel like a community. One fun fact about me is, if there’s a scenic overlook, I’ve probably stopped there. I’m famous for pulling out my camera at every beautiful spot — the team jokes that I take more photos than pedal strokes.
