As kids, we all used to ride bikes and loved doing it. But somehow when we grow up, for various reasons, we do not do it anymore – family, work, etc. 10 years back, I started biking again inspired by few of my co-workers. Through the last 10 years, biking was sort of a hobby and way to commute to work during summer. But this year I decided to take on a challenge – I am attempting a 205.5-mile Seattle to Portland ride (aka STP) on July 14th-15th. This is my first long distance ride and I have been practicing with Team Asha since March.
I had 2 primary goals for doing STP – First was to raise health awareness and encourage folks to take on similar journeys in their life. It all started with someone’s inspiration in my life and if I can inspire few of you, that will be the best gift to me. Team Asha Seattle has three programs – biking, running and climbing. For more information, please visit this page. Please check your local Asha web page to see what programs they support. I strongly encourage each one of you to check it out and go through one of these – it will be a great experience and you will discover new limits for yourself.
Second reason was working with Team Asha and raise awareness about the awesome work they are doing in India to provide education to underprivileged kids in India. Everyone has a right to education and I strongly believe in this – that’s the best gift we can give to any kid. I feel very privileged and lucky that I got opportunities in life to fulfill some of my dreams. Education is the key that enabled me to reach this stage. It’s time to give back to society. My goal this year is to raise $500 (before company matching). I would appreciate your help in reaching this goal. No amount is small, and 100% of your donation will go to funding the projects in India. You can look at some of Asha’s project on this link.
