Hello all,
During July/August of this year, Deepali & Pushpak will be participating in the long-distance bike ride from Seattle to Portland (STP), which is 206 miles long. Due to the continuing Covid restrictions the traditional outdoor biking event has been replaced with a virtual one where we will be riding indoors, and if permitted, outdoors, to complete the Virtual STP (vSTP) ride (~206 miles with ~5000ft elevation). Deepali is planning to ride the distance in 1 day, whereas Pushpak has the goal of completing the ride in 3 days! The vSTP Challenge runs from July 17th to August 8th 2021. Their bigger goal for the vSTP ride is to raise funds and awareness for the charitable organization ‘Asha for Education’ – an organization that began as an effort to provide basic education to underprivileged children throughout India. Asha is currently helping local communities combat the perils of illiteracy, poverty, and exploitation, by providing them with tools and means of empowerment.
Deepali & Pushpak are active volunteers for Asha. Deepali is the Project Steward for the Jan Seva Mandal and the Jeevan Vidya Trust – projects that aim towards supporting tribal youth in their education. In addition, both of them are part of the coordination team for Team Asha Biking program since 2011.
