I am Kajal Jina. This year I am biking 206 miles from Seattle to Portland for STP 2019 on July 13th and 14th. This will be my first long distance ride. Living in Pacific Northwest we are blessed with abundant lush greenery and scenic bike trails all around us, and that inspired me to do this challenge. I am training with the ASHA – Biking program. We train every weekend to reach the goal of 206 miles together with smiling faces.
I joined ASHA – biking program because of the cause it is working for – Spread Education. Asha is a secular, non-profit, and an all-volunteer driven organization working towards socio-economic change in India. They want to achieve that by providing education to the underprivileged children for whom education is perceived as a high-priced luxury. The rate of the school drop-outs is very high. I really think education, just like food and water, is the basic right and necessity of every child. Growing up, I have seen the changes education can make in people’s lives and their basic thought process. When I got to know about this organization and its goal, I joined in.
Team ASHA Seattle also has running and climbing programs. You can visit https://ashanet.org/projects/ page for more information. You can also check your local ASHA webpage to see the programs that they support. Please help me reach my modest goal to raise 500$(before matches through your organization). No amount is too small.
