“We make a LIVING by what we get, But we make a LIFE by what we give”.

Hello friends ! Warm greetings from Manoj Namodurai.

Heard about Rajasthan? I know the first thing which would strike your mind is The Thar desert. I would definitely not prefer such a place as my habitat and so would any one. But there are people living in the same land with hopes, dreams and aspirations that their life will be green unlike the place they live in.

As per statistics Rajasthan is the fourth least literate Indian state and female literacy level is even pathetic. I am now standing up for the cause of bringing relief to the people of Thar desert by participating in the annual charity climb of Mount Baker with the Seattle Chapter of Asha for Education this year.

About Me

Two things which will make up my life even in the most dreadful situations are Hiking and making videos out of my adventures. I was really excited when I moved to Seattle which has a magnificient snow-capped mountain backdrop and definitely the best place which will feed my

passions. Believe me the thrilling experience, beauty of the nature and the soul’s solitude will make you addicted. Despite the climatic conditions and the hardships undergone completing each trail, the feeling of being close to nature make me go further and further.

Few of my notable previous trials are Rattlesnake Ledge Hills, Mount Si – Old trial, Teneriffe Falls. Check for my videos in the below link. Am sure you will enjoy watching it.

Recently when I came to know about Asha and realized that my passion can illuminate someone’s life, I felt excited.

About Asha

Team Asha is a sports program organized by Asha for Education (Asha) that gives the chance to individuals of all ages to discover the magical benefits of physical activities like running and biking including but not limited to an active and healthy lifestyle. All that while helping raise funds for projects supported by Asha in India. The GRAVIS project which I am assisting is one such project supported by Asha and Mt. Baker Climb Program.

GRAVIS

Founded in 1983, GRAVIS works in the most impoverished and remote parts in the Thar Desert in Rajasthan. Core areas of GRAVIS’ work are water conservation, agriculture and forestry, healthcare, primary education, training and capacity building. Working with women in order to empower them has been an important aspect of organization’s overall approach.

Now I feel blessed that my zeal can contribute for the betterment of the life of women and children in Thar desert by taking part in “Team Asha Climb program” of summitting Mt. Baker.

My fund raising goal is $750. Please note that all my expenses like mountain climbing gear, travel, guide etc., are self-funded. 100% of the donations to Asha go directly to funding projects and are completely tax exempted.

Investment in knowledge pays the best interest and I will definitely assure you that your investment will bring a positive change in someone’s life.

What you will get in return is more facts, details and tips about hiking. In case hiking is not your cup of coffee then I am sure you will be left with a feeling of satisfaction and sense of pride about yourselves.

Wait ! You wanted to do something for the people of Thar desert?
